  16. PROBLEM #1:  If I leave MS-DOS machine running Kermit idle for
  17. (let us say) 15 minutes, then the terminal stops showing
  18. input and output.

  20. PROBLEM #2:  After reaching the state described in Problem #1, it
  21. is no longer possible to start other TCP/IP sessions.
  22.  
  23. PROBLEM #3:  Upon exiting kermit, the PC machine freezes up,
  24. requiring a Control-Alt-Del, and sometimes a power-down.  In general,
  25. it seems that the problem reappears if one does NOT use a power-down.

  27. I have read the kermit.hlp and kermit.bwr but remain unenlightened.

  29. BACKGROUND: 
  30.  
  31. 1.  I have been using MS-KERMIT 3.14pl9 to connect from MS-DOS
  32. machines (486 w/ MS-DOS 6.22 and a XT w/MS-DOS 5.0 and ANSI.SYS) to a
  33. Linux machine.  All the involved machines have 3Com ethernet cards,
  34. and all three are located on a TCP/IP ethernet with about one meter
  35. distance between them.

  37. 2.  I am positive that the problem is not the Kermit has dropped the
  38. connection.  Because the machines are setting next to each other, I
  39. can look at the Linux machine and see what program is being run on the
  40. "hung" machine running Kermit.  I can also "logout", etc.
  41.  
  42. 3.  I have tried SET TERM RESET, Alt-=, set term none, and anything
  43. else I could find in kermit.hlp that seemed relevant, but this
  44. did not help.
  45.  
  46. 4.  As mentioned above, when exiting, the PC freezes.  As suggested
  47. in KERMIT.BWR, it is possible to push to DOS, etc., while the
  48. session is still running, but hangup and exit result in the PC crash.

  50. I can provide more information if the preceding was not sufficient.
